The Taubman Museum is not just a repository of valuable art. It is also a living, changing cultural enterprise with a host of programs catering to a varied clientele.

The Taubman Museum of Art store will showcase regional crafts, museum- and exhibition-related merchandise and "unique and imaginative gifts from around the world," said a museum release.

Once upon a time, the Taubman Museum of Art was supposed to have an IMAX theater inside.

The museum's cafe is named "Norah's," after the museum's prized 1888 portrait of Englishwoman Norah Gribble by John Singer Sargent.

ArtVenture, the museum's 2,200-square-foot interactive gallery, is still a work in progress and is not expected to be ready until the end of November 2008.
